Thames Plastic Clean Up

We will be cleaning along the shoreline of the Thames Estuary. The river is flanked by a 1.2 metre high and 50cm wide concrete sea-wall which itself it set up on an approx. 3 metre high earth bank. To gain access to the tide-line volunteers will have to use ladders attached to the wall, this will involved a 3km walk from your vehicle to reach the ladders

We will meet in the car park at Cliffe Pools Nature Reserve at 11am for a 11.30am start on site.

The project will involve 50 volunteers the majority of who will be local scout/guide groups.

Please note all volunteers under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult

Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather.

About Us

The Guardians of the Deep project is a partnership between Kent Wildlife Trust, Thanet District Council, Medway Swale Estuary Partnership, Kent County Council and Natural England. It is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

It will involve local people in the protection and monitoring of Kent’s coastal wildlife, and get young people excited about marine wildlife through a programme of snorkelling activities and practical learning opportunities at coastal sites around the county.
